CONSTITUTION FOR TYNE BRIDGE MORRIS
1. WHAT WE ARE
Tyne Bridge Morris is a women's clog morris dance team
2. WHAT WE DO
Tyne Bridge Morris perform, promote and develop dances traditional to the North West and other parts of England and
Scotland, together with dances we have created ourselves in the clog-morris tradition.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Tyne Bridge Morris dancers are women over the age of 18. Girls between 14 and 18 may join if accompanied and supervised.
by a parent or guardian.
Tyne Bridge Morris musicians may be of any sex.
4. OFFICERS OF THE TEAM
Tyne Bridge Morris has three officers: Squire; Bagman; and Deputy Squire.
a. The Squire's role is to:-
Run and organise practices
Allocate dance positions when the team dances out in public
Liaise with the Bagman in organising dance outs
Be a contact point for people wishing to hire the team
The Squire's word is final on dances, where people dance and what will be practised.
b. The Bagman's role is to:-
Act as treasurer to the team
Act as secretary to the team
Know where the garlands, sticks and dragon are and arrange for them to be brought to bookings.
Liaise with Squire in organising dance outs
Be a contact point for people wishing to hire the team
c. The Deputy Squire's role is to assist the Squire in all her duties, and act in her place should she be unable to come to a
practice or a booking.
5. PRACTICES & MEETINGS
a. Tyne Bridge Morris practice weekly with the following exceptions:-
Between Christmas and New Year
If there are less than 6 dancers available
Unforeseen circumstances arise which make it impossible
b. Tyne Bridge Morris holds an Annual General Meeting on the first Thursday of March, at which officers' annual reports are
made, accounts are presented, officers are elected, decisions are made on where and when we will dance the following
summer, and any matters relating to the team or dancing are discussed.
c. Tyne Bridge Morris may also hold an Extraordinary General Meeting if team members or officers feel a matter is of
sufficient import.
6. FEES & SUBS
a. Tyne Bridge Morris will usually charge a fee for performing at an event. This may be waived if the event is fundraising for a
charity or organisation involving a team member or his/her close family.
b. Members will pay subs if there are insufficient funds in the Tyne Bridge Account to pay rent on the practice room.
